    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this uncommon 3 Gallon Merchant Jar made for "H. R. Barton & Co., Catlettsburg, KY."  


    It was made in Southwestern Pennsylvania around 1880, either in Greensboro or New Geneva.


    This beauty features Two Straight and One Squiggle Stripe at the Top, Freehand Vining and the Company Advertising Surrounding a Tulip in the Middle, and the Capacity Number Flanked by Leaves and Resting on a Squiggle and Straight Stripe at the Bottom.  Additional cobalt accents the handle terminals.  Stands 17" tall.  


    Fair to Good Condition.  A crack running from the rim to the vining and turning to the right under the vining on the front (closeup 1) and another above the right ear and running diagonally 4" toward the front.  A 1/2" chip on the left handle and two on the right handle, and glaze wear around the middle.  No rim or base chips, stains, or restoration.
