Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this fantastic 8" Wax Sealer from "Greensboro"
This is the work of Frank Hamilton and John Jones who worked in Greensboro from 1865 to 1897 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 154-157).
Dating to the 1870's, this beauty features a Finely Tooled Rim, Company Adress Stenciled Across the Top, and a Pair of Pears Below. Very clear stenciling and clean, light gray background for a strong contrast. Stands 8" tall.
Excellent Condition. A few pinhead-size nibbles on the bottom ring of the tooled rim. That's it! No top of the rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. Four small clay daubs below the rim (probably explosion of a neighboring jar in the kiln), and two small imperfections in the right pear--all in the making.
