    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Uncommon 1 Gallon Ovoid Jar made by "Gott & Palmer, Phoenix Pottery, Hudson Street, Albany, N.Y."  


    This jar is the work of John Gott and Amos Palmer who ran the Phoenix Pottery in Albany from 1848 to 1850 (Willilam C. Ketchum, Jr., Potters and Potteries of New York State, 1650-1900, 2nd ed., pp. 161-62). 


    This beauty features the Ovoid Form with Semi-Squared Rim, Incribed Shoulder, Applied Handles, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Freehand Capacity Number with Dash.  Stands 10" tall.


    Very Good Condition.  Water glass staining inside and out, and a faint 2 1/2" vertical hairline on the back at the bottom that wraps under 3" which is only partially visible inside (closeup).  No chips or restoration.
