Item 3432

Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this gorgeous Blue and White Spongeware Pitcher in the Old Fashioned Garden Rose Pattern.

Dating to the early 20th century, this beauty bears a Raised, Single-Stemmed Rose on Each Side. The sponging is the smoke ring pattern with 7 vertical colums of 5 rings each.  Careful sponging all around.  The sponging leaves the embossed rose easy to see.  Stands 9" tall.

This beauty is featured in Taylor and Lowrance, Collector's Encyclopedia of Salt Glaze Stoneware, on pages 63-64.

Excellent Condition.  Some crazing inside near the bottom, and two minor 1/8" nibbles at the base.  That's it!  No rim chips, hairlines, cracks, staining, or restoration.

One of the best examples that I have ever seen and coming from my private spongeware collection which is taking over the house!
