Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Ovoid Jug made and stamped by "G. Baird."


This is the work of George Baird who married a granddaughter of the potter, Solomon Purdy, (Louisa Purdy) and eventually potted in Mogadore, Ohio in the 1860's and 1870's (F. Robert Treichler, A History of Northeast Ohio Stoneware, pp. 26-27). 


This beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash and Cobalt at the base of the Handle.  Stands 13 1/2" tall.  


Excellent Condition.  A 3/8" chip at the base, and some modest surface wear around the middle.  That's it!  No spout chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.  A 3/8" inclusion on the right side where straw in the clay burned away in the making.
