Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful Early 1 Gallon Ovoid Decorated Jar.
The decoration indicates that it was made by John and James Miller of Strasburg, Virginia who ran the family pottery in the 1830's (H. E. Comstock, The Pottery of the Shenandoah Valley Region, pp. 441-442).
Dating around 1830, this beauty features a Small Size, Ovoid Form, Rolled Rim, Tab Handles, and a Tulip Garland on the Front and Leaf Garland on the Back. Additional cobalt accents on top of the handles. Stands 8 3/4" tall.
Very Good Condition. A flat 1" chip on top of the rim, chips under each handle, and a 1/2" chip at the base. No hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
