    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Cream Pot made by "Foell & Alt, Corner Sarah & 20th Sts. South Side, Pitts."  


    This is the work of John Foell and Nicholas Alt who made pottery in Pittsburgh from 1857 to around 1885 when Foell left the business.  The company used the "Pitts" in their label after 1872 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 147-148).


    This beauty features the Cream Pot Form with Top and Bottom Stripe Framing 5 Lines of Stenciled Advertising at the Top and a Freehand Capacity Number Flanked by Dashes at the Bottom.  Measures 10" tall and 9 1/2" wide across the top.  


    Excellent Condition. A 2" glaze-only craze line on the front (closeup) and a similar one on the back shoulder.  That's it!  No rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
