Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this great 3 Gallon Stoneware Churn made and stamped by "F. T. Wright & Son, Stoneware, Taunton, Mass."
This is the mark of the Franklin T. Wright and his son who ran their pottery from 1866 to the 1870's (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 50).
This beauty features a Clear Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash and a Freehand Floral Bouquet in Bold Cobalt Blue. Stands 15 1/4" tall.
Excellent Condition. A 1" chip on the top of the rim in the back, three narrow chips along the bottom edge (1/2" to 1"), and a stain run in the left side. No hairlines, cracks, or restoration. A surface drying line on the bottom of the left side (closeup), and a 2" firing line on the bottom of the right side- both in the making.
