Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful Spittoon Cuspidor made and stamped by "F. H. Cowden, Harrisburg."

This is the mark of John Wallace Cowden who ran the company with this stamp from 1880-1888 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 55-58).

This beauty features the pottery stamp with cobalt wash below the drain hole, a chrysanthemum around the drain opening, cobalt accents at the handle terminals, and a snowflake on the back.  Measures 5 1/2" tall and 11" wide across the top.

Fair Condition.  A 1" chip on the back of the left handle, and minor nibbles and three chips on the side or underside of the footer (1/4" to 1").  Main apology is an impact line to the left of the drain opening that spiders down and right above the drain hole (closeups).  No chips around the top, hairlines on the top or bottom, or any restoration.
