Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 1/2 Gallon Stoneware Cake Crock made and stamped by the "F. B. Norton & Co., Worcester, Mass."
This is the mark of Frank Norton and Frederick Hancock who operated the pottery in Worcester using this stamp from 1858-1877 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 52-53).
This beauty features the Uncommon Cake Crock Form, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Stylized Swirl Floral that Fills the Front. Measures 6 3/4" tall and 10" wide across the top.
Excellent Condition. A tiny 1/8" nibble under the left handle, a 1/4" chip on the right handle, and some light staining on the rim. That's it! No rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration. A small stone ping on the right of the decoration and three on the back in the making.
