Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Jug made and stamped by "Evan R. Jones, Pittston, Pa."
Jones potted in Pittston in the 1870's and 1880's (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 34-37).
This beauty features the Syrup Jug Form, Pottery Stamp, and Albany Slip Glaze. This kind of glaze required the piece to be dipped in the glaze, and you can see the fingerprints of the glazer on the bottom. Stands 9 1/4" tall.
Excellent Condition. Two chips inside the spout (1/8", 1/4"), and one on the bottom edge (1/4"). No hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. A 3/4" stoneping on the left side of the spout in the making.
