Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 1/2 Gallon Stoneware Jar made and stamped by "E. & L. P. Norton, Bennington, VT."
This is the mark of Edward Norton and Luman Preston Norton, the son of Julius Norton, who worked together in the family pottery from 1861-1881 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 44)
This beauty sports the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash and a Large Stylized Bouquet of Flowers in Strong and Shiny Cobalt. Stands 10 1/4" tall.
Very Good Condition. A 1" hairline in the rim above the left handle (closeup), a 1" chip on the right handle, and staining at the bottom. No inner rim or base chips, body hairlines or cracks, or restoration.
