    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful  3 Gallon Jug made and stamped by "E. & L. P. Norton, Bennington, VT."


    This is the mark of Edward Norton and Luman Preston Norton, the son of Julius Norton, who worked together in the family pottery from 1861-1881 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 44)


    This beauty sports the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash and a Cute Bird Perched on a Branch.  The bird has a large crown on his head and many tail feathers, while the branch has lots of leaves and dots.  The cobalt is vibrant and shiny.  Stands 15 1/2" tall.   


    Excellent Condition.  A minor 1/8" flake on the spout, a 1/2" chip on the bottom edge of the left side, and some scattered small stains from use.  No hairlines, cracks, or restoration.  A 1/2" drying line on the base of the handle in the making.
