Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this great 2 Gallon Stoneware Jug made and stamped by "E. Norton & Co., Bennington, VT ."


This is the mark of Edward Norton who ran the Norton Pottery in Bennington from 1881-1885 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 43-44).


This beauty sports a clear pottery stamp with cobalt wash and a Signature Norton Decoration- A Fancy Floral Bouquet Executed with a Slip Cup.  Bright Bennington cobalt throughout the decoration on a light clay for strong contrast.   Stands 14" tall.


Excellent Condition.  A shallow and narrow 1 1/4" chip on the top of the spout on the left side near the handle, a 3/4" chip on the bottom at the edge, and some light staining from use.  That's it!  No hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
