Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Little 1 1/2 Gallon Stoneware Crock made and stamped by "E. & L. P. Norton, Bennington, VT."
This is the mark of Edward Norton and Luman Preston Norton, the son of Julius Norton, who worked together in the family pottery from 1861-1881 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 44)
This beauty sports the pottery stamp with cobalt wash and a Signature Norton Decoration- A Cobalt Leaf Executed with a Slip Cup. Bright Bennington cobalt throughout the decoration on a light clay for strong contrast. Measures 8" tall and 9" wide across the top.
Excellent Condition. A couple water glass rings inside and some very faint water glass runs outside from use. No chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
