Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 3 Gallon Stoneware Jar that reads, "From E. Fowler, Beaver, Pa."
This is the work of Enoch Fowler who ran the pottery in Beaver Pa. in the 1850's to the 1880's (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 134-35).
This beauty features a Carefully Tooled Rim, Heavy-Wall Construction, and a Stencil with Little Fancies. Stands 13 1/3" tall.
Very Good Condition. Some minor nibbles on the seating ring inside where a lid would sit, a 1" chip on the left handle and two on the right handle, some spots of worn glaze on the body, and a minor "t" line at the bottom of the left front that is not seen inside (closeup). No chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
