    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this rare 1/2 Gallon Jug marked "LN".


    This is likely the mark of J. S. Newberry of Crawford County, Georgia.  Newberry was one of many potters in Crawford County who whiskey jugs that were exported to Macon by wagon.  In 1898, he is listed as one of the leading potters of county.  See John Burrison, Brothers in Clay: The Story of Georgia Folk Pottery, pp. 131-133. 


    This beauty features the Small 1/2 Gallon Size, an Alkaline Glaze like melted Caramel, and the Pottery Stamp on the Top of the Handle.  Stands 9" tall.


    Exceptional Condition.  No damage of any kind. A kiln touch on the back in the making.
