    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Jug made and stamped by "Cowden & Wilcox, Harrisburg, PA."


    This is the mark of John Wallace Cowden and Isaac Wilcox who ran the pottery in Harrisburg with this stamp from 1863 to 1880 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners , pp. 55-58).


    This beauty features the Pottery Stamp and Capacity Number with Cobalt Wash, Cobalt Accents at the Handle Terminals, and Two Chyrsanthemums with Six Leaves and Two Blossoms with Nine Petals Each.  Pretty blue used throughout the decoration by a skilled artist.  Stands 13 5/8" tall.


    Excellent Condition.  A 1/2" chip at the base and some spots of light staining from use.  No spout chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
