Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this splendid 3 Gallon Jug made and stamped by "Cowden & Wilcox, Harrisburg, PA."
This is the mark of John Wallace Cowden and Isaac Wilcox who ran the pottery in Harrisburg with this stamp from 1863 to 1880 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners , pp. 55-58).
Thus beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Brushed Cobalt Flowering Plant with Six Bottom Leave, Two Beehive Blossoms with Seven Graduated Levels, and Four Leaves at the Top. Stands 15 3/4" tall.
Excellent Condition. Some staining around the top. That's it! No chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration. A faint 1" firing line on the bottom in the making.
