Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this splendid 3 Gallon Jug made and stamped by "Cowden & Wilcox, Harrisburg, PA."


This is the mark of John Wallace Cowden and Isaac Wilcox who ran the pottery in Harrisburg with this stamp from 1863 to 1880 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners , pp. 55-58).


Thus beauty features a Semi-Ovoid Form, the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Double Beehive Flower Executed in Brilliant Cobalt Blue.  Each flower has six leaves and a blossom with five sections.  Stands 15" tall.


Very Good Condition.  Staining from use.  No chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
