    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Jug made and stamped by "Cowden & Wilcox, Harrisburg, PA."


    This is the mark of John Wallace Cowden and Isaac Wilcox who ran the pottery in Harrisburg with this stamp from 1863 to 1880 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 55-58).


    Thus beauty features the pottery stamp with cobalt wash and a Freehand Chrysanthemum Executed in Cobalt Blue.  The blossom has 14 petals and is wrapped up at the base with a small bow.  Stands 11" tall.


    Excellent Condition.  A 1" surface ping on the center of the left side and some light staining on the right side and back.   That's it! No spout or base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration. 


    An attractive jug wearing a signature decoration by Cowden and Wilcox.
