Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Preserve Jar made and stamped by "Cowden & Wilcox, Harrisburg, PA."
This is the mark of John Wallace Cowden and Isaac Wilcox who ran the pottery in Harrisburg with this stamp from 1863 to 1880 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners , pp. 55-58).
Thus beauty features the Desired 1 Gallon Size, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and Chrysanthemum with 3 Leaves and a Blossom with 12 Petals. The decoration is executed by an expert hand with a brush in gorgeous cobalt. Stands 10" tall
Very Good Condition. A flat 1/2" chip on top of the rim, a 1" surface-only ping line above the right handle (closeup), three chips on the left handle (1/4" to 3/8") and one on the right (3/8"), and a 1/4" chip at the base. No inner rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
