    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Jar made and stamped by "Cowden & Wilcox, Harrisburg, PA."


    This is the mark of John Wallace Cowden and Isaac Wilcox who ran the pottery in Harrisburg with this stamp from 1863 to 1880 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners , pp. 55-58).


    This beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, Cobalt Accents at the Handle Terminals, and a Pair of Chyrsanthemums with Seven Leaves and Two Blossoms with Twelve Petals Each.  Pretty blue used throughout the decoration by a skilled artist. Stands 11 1/2" tall.  


    Very Good Condition.  A 1/4" chip inside the rim, ix chips on the rim (1/4" to 1"), and two chips on each handle (3/8", 3/4").  No outer rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
