Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Ovoid Jug made and stamped by "Clark & Co., Rochester."
This is the mark of Nathan Clark who founded a pottery in Athens, N.Y. with branches in Lyons, Mount Morris, and Rochester. This is from the Rochester branch that was opened in 1839 and sold to John Burger in 1854 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, 66).
This beauty features the Ovoid Form, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and Large Double Floral with Leaves, Two Large Blossoms, Two Buds, and a Center Striped Plume. Stands 14 1/2" tall.
Exceptional Condition. As made condition. No damage of any kind. A stone ping on the left side in the making.
