Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Lidded Jar made and stamped by "Clark & Co., Rochester."

This is the mark of Nathan Clark who founded a pottery in Athens, N.Y. with branches in Lyons, Mount Morris, and Rochester. This is from the Rochester branch that was opened in 1839 and sold to John Burger in 1854 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, 66).

This beauty features the Preserve Jar Form in a Small Size, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Grapevine with Ground Cover Holding Up 36 Grapes!  What a folky decoration.  Looks like the grape vine should just snap off from the weight!  Strong cobalt blue.  Stands 9 3/4" tall

Excellent Condition.  A 1 1/2" chip on the underside of the left handle.  That's it!  No rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.  Small straw void inside the rim in the making.  The lid has three minor chips around the top outer edge.
