Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful  8 1/4" Wax Sealer Canning Jar whose form and decoration indicates that it was made by James Hamilton of Greensboro, Pennsylvania.

James Hamilton ran his pottery in Greensboro from the 1860's to 1880 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 154-157).

Circa 1870, this beauty features a Barrel Form Typical of James Hamilton, Wax Sealer Tooled Rim with Groove for the Hot Wax, and 6 Cobalt Stripes Down the Front.  Stands 8 1/4" tall.

Excellent Condition.  Three flat chips inside the inner rim (1/4" to 1/2"), and a couple minor nibbles on the bottom ring of the tooled rim.  That's it!  No top rim chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.  What looks like chips inside the outer rim are glaze skips in the making.
