Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1/2 Gallon Decorated Stoneware Jar.


This jar is easily attributed to Richard Remmey who made stoneware in Philadelphia at the family pottery from the 1860's to the turn of the century (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 8-9).

Circa 1870, this beauty features a Finely Tooled Rim and Shoulder, and Three Freehand Leaves around the Middle.  Each leaf has four brushstrokes of dark cobalt.  Stands 8 3/4" tall. 


Exceptional Condition.  As made.  No damage of any kind.  Typical manufacturing imperfections.
