Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Decorated Stoneware Jar.

This jar is easily attributed to Richard Remmey who made stoneware in Philadelphia at the family pottery from the 1860's to the turn of the century (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 8-9).
Circa 1870, this beauty features a Finely Tooled Rim, Squiggle Stripe at the Shoulder, and Three Freehand Tulips around the Middle.  All the decoration is executed in freehand and with bold and shiny cobalt.  Stands 10 3/4" tall.

Excellent Condition.  A couple of faint 1" firing lines at the base.  That's it!  No chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.  Mottling in the clay in the making.
