Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 1/2 Gallon Decorated Stoneware Jar from Southwestern Pennsylvania.
Dating around 1870 and hailing from Greensboro or New Geneva, PA, this beauty features Top to Bottom Decoration. From the top down are a straight and squiggle stripe at the top, a row of freehand comma vining at the shoulder, a row of dashes in the middle undergirded by two columns of graduated dashes framing the freehand capacity number in between, and a stripe at the bottom. Not a common decoration on a smaller jar. Stands 10 3/4".
Excellent Condition. A siingle 1/4" chip on the underside. That's it! No rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. Small kiln touch on the back in the making.
