Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Jar whose decoration indicates it was made by B. C. Milburn of Alexandria, Virginia. Milburn potted in Alexandria from the early 1800's to just beyond the Civil War (Eddie Wilder, Alexandria, Virginia Pottery 1792-1876 , pp. 179-290).

 

Dating around 1850, this beauty features a Chain of Cobalt Loops in a Wavy Pattern Around the Middle.  This was a favorite decoration for Milburn.  The chain has 30 individual loops.  Strong and shiny cobalt as well.  Stands 10 1/4" tall.

 

Very Good Condition.  Two adjoining chips on the rim with a 4" hairline below them (closeup), and a 1/4" chip at the base.  No stains or restoration.
