    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderfu 1 Gallon Jar from the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. 

     

    The decoration indicates that the jar was made by Henry Remmey, Jr. who ran the family pottery in Philadelphia from the 1820's to the 1850's (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 8-10).

     

    Dating around 1840, this beauty features a Tooled Rim with Canted Neck, and a Garland of Four Dangling Tulips and Associated Foliage around the Shoulder.  The garland is executed in freehand and dark cobalt.  Stands 10 1/2" tall.

     

    Excellent Condition.  A minor 3/16" chip on the rim, a narrow 1" chip on the base (closeup), and a flat 3/8" chip on the underside.  No hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
