Item 3580

Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this gorgeous 1/2 Gallon Decorated Jar from Philadelphia.

The early form and floral decoration is reminiscent of stoneware by Henry Remmey, Jr. of Philadelphia after his arrival from Baltimore.  Henry Remmey, Jr. ran the family pottery in Philadelphia from the 1820's to the 1850's (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners , pp. 8-10).

Circa 1830, this beauty features a Rounded Rim, Light Gray Clay, and a Garland of Five Flowers around the Middle.  Stands 8 1/2" tall.

Excellent Condition.  Four flat 3/8" chips on the bottom edge and underside.  That's it!  No rim chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.

An extremely clean example of such an early piece of Philadelphia history and the Remmey pottery dynasty.
