  • Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Gorgeous 3 Gallon Stoneware Ovoid Jar with Profuse Decoration.

The decoration is distinctive of David Parr of Baltimore, Maryland (1815-1855) (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 98).

Dating around 1830, this beauty sports a Rounded Rim, Ovoid Shape, and Two Rows of Freehand Tulips-- a Dozen in All.  The top row had four and the bottom row has 6, and there are two additional ones standing under the handles.   Stands 13 1/4" tall.

Excellent Condition.  A minor 1/4" chip inside the rim, three chips on one handle (3/8" to 1 1/4"). That's it!  no base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.  A 7" surface-only horizontal firing line near the base from an impurity in the clay (closeup).
