Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Early 2 Gallon Ovoid Jar attributed to Clarkson Crolius, Sr.
Crolius pottery in Manhattan from 1800-1838 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 62).
Dating around 1820, this beauty features an Ovoid Form with Tooled Rim, Open Handles, a Garland of Drapes and Dots around the Shoulder, and Cobalt Accents at the Handle Terminals. Stands 11 1/4" tall.
Excellent Condition. Three chips inside the rim (1/4" to 1/2"), a 3/4" chip on top of the rim, and three minor 1/8" chips on the underside at the edge. That's it! No hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
