• Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Early 2 Gallon Stoneware Ovoid Jug.


    The form and decoration indicate that it was made by David Clark of Cornwall, New York.  His exact dates are not know, but 1810-1812 are indicated (William Kethchum, Jr., Potters and Potteries of New York State, 1650-1900, p. 125).


    This beauty features an Early Ovoid Form, Reeded Spout, and Brushed Cobalt Plant.  Stands 14 1/4" tall.


    Excellent Condition.  A 2" portion of minor nibbles and roughness on the base in one place.  That's it!  No spout chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.  A small crow's foot on the surface on the right side by the handle in the making and glazed over (closeup).
