Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful Stoneware Jar with Chain Decoration.  

 

This decoration makes the jar attributable to B. C. Milburn of Alexandria, Virginia. Milburn potted in Alexandria from the early 1800's to just beyond the Civil War. (See Eddie Wilder, Alexandria, Virginia Pottery 1792-1876 , pp. 179-290).

 

Dating around 1860, this beauty features a Carefully Tooled Rim and a Cobalt Chain Around the Shoulder with Two Dozen Links.  Stands 8 3/4" tall.

 

Excellent Condition. Two minor 1/8" nibbles on the top of the rim. That's it!  No inner rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.  Slightly oval in the making.
