Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 4 Gallon Crock made and stamped by "C. W. Braun, Buffalo, N.Y."
This is the mark of Charles W. Braun who ran the old Heiser pottery in Buffalo from 1857-1896 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware , p. 75).
Dating around 1860, this beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash and a Folk Art Floral Executed with a Slip Cup. The floral has four leaves with the two largest ones heavily accented with dashes, and a blossom with five petals also heavily accented. Measures 11" tall and 11" wide.
Excellent Condition. An X glaze craze line under the left handle with a 4" vertical craze line to its right (closeup). Surface only and very faint. That's it! No chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
