Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Preserve Jar made and stamped by "C. Hart & Son, Sherburne."
This is the stamp of Charles Hart and his son, Nahum, who potted in Sherburne, N.Y. with this stamp from 1866-1885 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 74-75).
This beauty features the pottery stamp with cobalt wash and a Large Plow Flower So Named for its Resemblance to a Horse-Drawn Plow. The flower is very large, filling the entire front of the crock with bright and shiny cobalt blue. Measures 10 3/8" tall.
Excellent Condition. Glaze wear and small chips on the inner rim where a lid would sit, and some faint stains from use. That is it! No outer rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
