Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Jug made and stamped by "C. Hart & Co., Ogdensburgh."
This is the mark of Charles Hart who ran the Ogdensburgh branch of the family pottery from 1850 to 1858 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 74-75).
This beauty sports a Clear Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash and a Left Leaning Tulip with Three Types of Leaves and a blossom with Eight Petals. Stands 13 3/4" tall.
Very Good Condition. Some small chips: Three flat ones on top of the spout (1/4" to 3/8"), two on the bottom edge of the spout (1/4"), one on top of the handle (1/4"), two on the right side (1/4", 3/8"), and on the base (1/2"). Faint staining near the bottom. No hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
