Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Jar made and stamped by "C. Boynton & Co., Troy."
This is the work of Calvin Boynton who ran a pottery in Troy from 1829-1835 (See William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware , p. 66).
This beauty features an Unusual Jar Form with Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash and Two Doric Columns. I suspect a paper label was applied between the columns.
Excellent Condition. A 1/8" chip inside the rim and a narrow 1/4" chip on the bottom edge. That's it! No outer rim chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. A flat 1/4" stone ping on the top of the rim in the making.
