Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Preserve Jar made and stamped by "Brewer & Halm, Havana."
This is the work of Stephen T. Brewer and Ralph Halm who potted in Havana for only one year--from 1852-1853 (Allen Sweet, The Stoneware of Havana, N.Y. and Its Makers, pp. 40-43).
This beauty features a strong pottery stamp with cobalt wash and a Gorgeous Folk Art Floral with Four Tulips with Center with Center Stems that Fill the Front of the Crock with Bold and Bright Cobalt. Stands 10 3/4" tall.
Excellent Condition. Some light staining near the top. That's it! No chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration. Mottled glaze on the body in the making.
A fine decorated example of pottery produced from a very short partnership.
