Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful Blue and White Sleepy Eye Stoneware Stein.
It was made by the Weir Stoneware Company of Monmouth, Illinois (1899-1905). This was made as a premium for the Old Sleepy Eye Milling Company of Sleepy Eye, Minnesota (Jim Martin and Bette Cooper, Monmouth-Western Stoneware, pp. 112-113).
This beauty features a Profile of Old Sleepy Eye in Profile with His Name Below on One Side, and his Village with Someone Cooking Outside on the Other Side. A bust of Old Sleepy Eye on the handle as a thumb grip. All the details are sharp and crisp and the cobalt highlights done carefully. Measures 7 5/8" tall.
Excellent Condition. A single pinhead-size nibble near the top of the bust on the thumbgrip. No damage of any kind.
