Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful Blue and White Bowl in the Flying Birds Pattern.
This beauty features Four Flying Birds around the Middle separated by Wild Flowers, with a Garland of Wild Flowers forming the Top and Bottom Borders. Diffused blue coloration. Measures 3 1/2" tall and 7 1/4" wide.
These bowls came in three sizes (6", 7", 8") and were made by A.E. Hull Pottery, Ohio, in the early 1900's. You can find a fine writeup on this item in Taylor and Lowrance's, Collector's Encyclopedia of Salt Glaze Stoneware, pp. 162-63.
Excellent Condition. A 1/4" chip on the underside of the footer. Otherwise as made. Typical manufacturing imperfections including a 3/8" clay void in the top trim that is glazed over.
