Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this uncommon Blue and White Butter Crock with Lid in the Cows and Fence Pattern.

This crock is described in Terry Taylor and Terry and Kay Lowrance, Collector's Encyclopedia of Salt Glaze Stoneware, pp. 109-110.

On the front side this beauty features the cobalt-accented word "Butter" framed by a cow on each side and on the back a fence framed by a cow on each side. A floral and leaf garland provide a border on the top and bottom which is repeated on the lid. Measures 4 1/2" tall and 7" wide. This example has very strong mold lines and gorgeous coloring as you can see.  Quality replacement handle.

Very Good Condition. The base has a series of small chips around the inside of the rim.  No outer rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains or restoration.  A chip at the base below the left cow on the front in the making and glazed over.  The lid has five 1/4" flakes on the bottom outer edge, four of which are adjacent (2nd picture behind the handle).  No hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
