Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Gorgeous Stoneware Jar made and stamped on the shoulder by the "Beaumont Pottery, York, Maine" and scratched on the bottom with a cross, the initials J B, and the date 1984.
This is the work of Jerry Beaumont, a contemporary master potter. In my experience, his work ranks supreme among the contemporary potters and is escalating in value.
This beauty features the Preserve Jar Form, Pottery Stamp on the Shoulder, and a Sunflower Executed with a Slip Cup. The flower has four leaves and a blossom with 9 petals and a center with 18 dots. Stands 8 3/4" tall.
The decoration is reminiscent of Stetzenmeyer of Rochester in the 1860's.
