Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Stoneware Oyster Jar.
The decoration indicates that it was made either Orrin L, and Hiram N. Ballard who made stoneware in Burlington, Vermont from 1856-1867 or Alfred Ballard who followed from 1867-1874 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 45-46). Both used this decoration.
This beauty sports the pottery Oyster Jar Form with Original Cork Stopper and a Large Cobalt Leaf Decoration that was Typical of Ballard Stoneware. Stands 10 1/4" tall.
