Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Stoneware Jug made and stamped by the "Ballard & Brothers, Burlington, VT."


This is the mark of Orrin and Alfred Ballard who ran the family pottery under this and other stamps from 1856-1867 ( William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 46).


This beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash and a Fanciful Flower with Three Dotted Leaves and Two Dotted Blossoms.  Stands 14 1/4" tall.


Good Condition.  Some chips on the underside at the edge, a raised semi-circle right of the pottery stamps (closeup 1), and some henpecks in the glaze near the bottom on the front and right (closeup 2).  No spout chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
