Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this very attractive 2 Gallon Preserve Jar marked "Albany, N.Y."  It was made by the Albany Stone Ware Factory between 1861 and 1866.

Dating around 1860, this beauty features the Preserve Jar Form with Carefully Tooled Rim, Pottery Stamp, and a Bold Floral Executed with a Slip Cup in Strong Cobalt.  The decoration has a very angular character not often seen.  On the very light gray clay, the decoration really stands out.  Stands 10 1/2" tall.

Very Good Condition.  A few small chips and nibbles around the inner rim where a lid would sit, and 8 chips around the bottom edge (1/4" to 1 1/2").  No top rim chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.  A surface drying line inside in the making that does not show outside (closeup).
