Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Monumental 6 Gallon Ovoid Double-Handled Water Cooler made and stamped by "A. DeHaven, Middlebury, Ohio."
This cooler is the product of Abram DeHaven of Middlebury, Ohio who potted in the mid-19th century (F. Robert Treichler, A History of Northeast Ohio Stoneware, p. 48).
This beauty features an early Ovoid and Water Cooler Form, Double-Handles, and Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash. Stands 18 3/4" tall. Comes with an old carved wooden stopper and a wooden spigot.
Excellent Condition. A flat 1/2" chip below the left handle, and a 3/4" chip inside the bottom of the spigot opening (closeup). That's it! No spout or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. A 2" vertical drying line on the back bottom in the making.
