Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this uncommon 6" Ovoid Jar made by "A. Conrad, New Geneva, PA."
Alexander Conrad ran the pottery in New Geneva from 1870-1882 before moving to Shinnston, WV (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 164-65).
Item 2009
Dating to the 1870's, this beauty features the Company Advertising Surrounding a Grapevine with a Cluster of Grapes. The vine had three tendrils, two leaves, and a cluster of 13 grapes (no, I do not have enough to do other than count grapes!). Only 6" tall!
Very Good Condition. A narrow 1/4" chip under the rim and a very tight 3" hairline from the rim on the left side (closeup). No base chips, stains, or restoration.
I have only ever seen one other of these.
